Camille's 4 Month Checkup

Camille had her 4 month checkup today. I had pushed this back a week since her baptism was last week and we knew she was due for some shots....

She weighed in at 11lbs 15oz, 22 1/2 inches height, and 15 3/4 inches head circumference. Her head circumference is in the 25th percentile for "normal" babies which is like 60th for premies! Ha! She must get that from her dad! :) She is showing consistent growth according to the doctor, so we are in good shape on that front.

She got 1 oral vaccine and 2 shots in the leg :( It was pitiful! One of the shots, the DTaP, which is a 3 in 1 was the worse. The nurse warned it would burn a bit and Camille screamed for minutes after that one- it made me want to cry too! It helped that I had a warm bottle ready for her :) She quickly forgot the trauma and drank her bottle and fell right asleep.

Everything checked out great and she doesn't go back until 6 months, so in May! Let's pray she doesn't get a fever or any of the other side effects from the shots :(

Also, Camille is now on formula only. We stopped breastmilk last week as her milk allergy wasn't getting any better. I had tried to limit my dairy intake, but that was getting quite challenging. The milk allergy was causing her to be extra sensitive to the breastmilk which is why she had constant congestion and constipation. Since being on only formula, she is back on track and even eating more! Who would have thought.... oh well, just an extra sensitive tummy.

Camille has been sleeping great the past few weeks.... 8 hours straight most nights! All the doctors seem very impressed for a premie to be at that stage already. She is such a GREAT baby!

Camille's Baptism

Camille got baptized this past Sunday, March 21. The first day of spring! She looked like a baby doll in her gown- though it made her hot, especially with the bonnet on. She did very well throughout the ceremony and ended up falling asleep by the time we got our pictures taken :) She loved being passed around amongst all her family members at the luncheon afterwards. What a happy girl!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

We had some fun playing dress up yesterday! Thanks to her Irish outfit from David & Laura, we were very festive :) The outfit is 3/6mth so its still too big for her, but you get the picture.

Special Infant Care Checkup

Camille had her post NICU checkup today with the Special Infant Care Unit at WakeMed. All NICU babies have to have follow up developmental checkups with this group around 3-4 months and then again at 6 months.

Camille weighed in at 11lbs 8oz :) According to the premie growth chart, she is in the 50th percentile for weight and head circumference! Her height is in the 20th percentile- guess she is going to be petite like her mama! While her doctor's visits only compare her to the "normal" baby growth chart, the SICU said I should never be discouraged by those numbers since she is "special."

The developmental specialist spent some time with her checking head control, focus, behavior, etc. Camille sure put on a show! He was quite impressed with her "scooting." She even did a semi-rollover for him. He was shocked at how advanced she is in that aspect. He said she is right on track for development given her adjusted age is only 9ish weeks. He said we should always use her adjusted age for developmental progress (so normal age minus 6wks). The head control and focus is about where it should be, but he says all her movement is more ahead of the curve. He told me that she is very big for a premie :) Music to my hears!!

The doctor checked her out too and had the same response- she is doing GREAT! She loved how "smiley" Camille was. The doctor said Camille showed no signs that she was as breech as she was at birth, meaning everything they were concerned about has since corrected itself!

There is one spot on her head that shows that she has a tendancy to lay more toward one side. Nothing too be worried about, just something to keep an eye on and make sure we encourage her to lay her head toward both sides when she sleeps or plays on her back.

So all in all a great checkup- so great that we don't have to come back!! The usually don't "discharge" the NICU babies after only one follow up, but Camille is just that wonderful :)

Myrtle Beach Trip

We survived Camille's 2nd road trip! We spent the weekend in Myrtle Beach for Allie's bridal shower :) Joe & Martha had a house full! Morgan, Patrick, & Bryce also stayed the weekend! And even Allie and her new addition Cooper! (dog, not baby :))

We were so thankful for the many helping hands that gave Nick & I a break from time to time. Martha enjoyed being awaken with "Camille & Coffee" thanks to Joe. Graceson enjoyed giving lots of sweet kisses to Camille. We were well taken care of and Camille got to attend her first party. She enjoyed being passed around from shoulder to shoulder during Allie's shower. Camille and Bryce had some bonding too, though Bryce was more into his food :) Camille did enjoy watching him- quite entertaining. Bryce was nice enough to introduce Camille to his glow worm (picture above). Martha even got to give Camille a bath on Saturday night while I went out with the girls for some celebrating! Too bad Camille didn't care that I stayed out late- she was up at 2:30am!
Camille did decide to go through a growth spurt while we were there too- she is now up to 5oz feedings! Maybe Bryce rubbed off on her :)

Sunday brought some sunny weather, so we enjoyed some sunbathing on the back patio before heading back. (picture above)
