6 Month Checkup

Camille had her 6mth checkup today. Half a year already! Wow!

Her appointment went great. She weighed in at 13lbs 9oz, so not too much change in the weight department. Still in the 11th percentile on the growth chart. She had grown almost 3 inches though up to 25 1/4 which is in the 25th percentile on the growth chart. Her head circumference grew about an inch too to 16 5/8 inches which is in the 50th percentile on the growth chart. What big brains she must have! The nurse even asked to re-do her measurements for head and length as she said that was a significant change in only 2 months :)

Camille also had to get yet another round of shots... 1 orally and then 3 in the leg.... She screamed bloody murder but was quickly soothed by her bottle :)

Dr. Willey even gave us permission to try to go to the next level of formula, so instead of the alimentum which is fully hypoallergenic, we can try the partically hypoallergenic which is the GentleEase/Sensitive line... and usually $10 less per can!! Woo hoo! We will see how that goes over the next few weeks.

Dr. Willey was VERY impressed by Camille's developmental skills.... She is doing great at grabbing things and being as mobile as she can without being able to crawl. I had expressed concern since Camille hasn't been able to sit up on her own yet. Dr. Willey was convinced that this wasn't for lack of ability, but more for lack of interest. She said her head control and mobility is good enough to be deemed a "sitter" even though she hasn't officially done it. In working with her, Dr. Willey thought Camille definitely could do it if she wanted to. She joked that Camille seemed like she would be crawling before sitting up :)

An update on the teething front- Camille definitely has 2 bottom teeth almost visible at this point. They have broken through the skin, but haven't come up much beyond that. Supposedly the most painful part is breaking through, so glad that is out of the way for this round.

Camille continues to love food... She gets 3 meals a day- 2 of them are cereal based with a fruit or veggie mixed in... and then 1 of just plain veggie or fruit.... She still prefers fruit to veggies, but will eat what is in front of her. She actually loves squash though! Carrots still seem to be the only item that she continues to spit back out at us :)

We just started Camille in her exersaucer and boy does she LOVE that.... she has just gotten brave enough to spin herself around in the chair to get to whichever toy interests her the most at that time.... it is hilarious to watch her.

I hope to take some good pics this weekend of Camille in her first bathing suit for Memorial Day :)

6 Months Old!!

Wow! It is so hard to believe that our baby is six months old! Where did the time go?! I have to say that Camille is in her most fun stage yet. Some new things that she started this month: "advanced" rolling- she can roll over to either side and many times in a row, feet discovery- she holds her feet/toes now anytime she can get hold of them... and has gotten her toe in her mouth a couple of times, loving tummy time now and grabbing/reaching for her toys- she still amazes me how she can get hold of some things that seem so far away- she is determined, solid foods- not just cereal anymore- we are doing 3 baby food meals a day. She LOVES all the fruit of course and is tolerable of the vegetables, especially if we mix them in her fruit cereal :) Carrots seem to be the only food that she actually spit back out. She is laughing too- takes awhile to get her going, but once she finds something to be funny, she will keep on laughing. She has graduated to the 3-6mth clothing despite that she doesn't seem to have gained much more weight.

This picture is Camille in her bumbo... she is so cute in it and it makes her feel so grown up, yet she still likes to lean over and grab her feet- not carrying much about sitting straight. Oh well!

She has her 6mth appointment next week so I will report back then on weight gain, height, and shots :(

Camille's First Beach Trip

I hate it took so long for me to get these precious pictures up! Nick, Camille, and I spent Mother's Day weekend in Myrtle Beach with the family. We had a wonderful time and even spent a few hours on the beach! Camille LOVED the breeze and all the activity- she managed to get in a nap too! She was such a greasy baby since we had coated her in sunscreen despite the fact that she remained under the umbrella the entire time :) Better to be safe than sorry!

Warm weather is finally here!

This is Camille in a little summer one piece outfit.... we are so glad the weather is warming up!

Going backward.....

This week we seem to be going backward as it relates to Camille's sleeping habits. Up until now she has been sleeping from 8pm-6am consistently each night. Well, she recently started teething and we seem to be back to the infant days of waking up every 3-4 hours! It is so pitiful to think about the pain those tiny little teeth breaking through the gums can cause. As Camille is still a very well behaved baby, the fussiness has increased along with the lack of sleep :( She does stay content as long as she is chewing on something, but that is next to impossible when she is trying to sleep! Her normal giggles and coo-ing in the morning have turned into high pitched screeching- talk about your own personal alarm clock! It is a little overwhelming to think of all the teeth that have yet to occupy that mouth of hers! How long must we go through this?

As most of you know, all the Tylenol and Motrin products have been recalled, so we have purchased the Target brand tylenol to use for her pain. It definitely does the trick, but only for 4ish hours at a time and we don't give it to her during the day. Thank goodness for daycare! Ha!

I feel I haven't posted in awhile, as we have some other "new" news in the world of Camille. Not only was she a champ at eating her rice cereal, but she is even better now that we have introduced the mixed fruit rice cereal! She is up to 2 feedings a day of it and she chows down- never leaving one drop in her bowl. We have also been giving her a "splash" of pear juice in some of her bottles which she loves. We are a week into it and she seems to be doing great, so more food will be introduced soon! Mrs. Ruth at school even commented what a good eater Camille was- and quite neat- not leaving to much on her bib :) That is mommy's girl for sure!

I have some cute new pictures to post soon!
